| Only a week late! I can't believe how long ago my last entry was! I guess those holidays were busy! I spent the last 2 weeks before Christmas making hats for my neices/nephews/own kids...which led to one for my brother and one for my mom as well! Whew! On to something different. I think I could knit the in my sleep! I definitely didn't need the pattern anymore! We had a relatively quiet break. We didn't go anywhere - I wanted to go to Myrtle Beach, but having been there in November, we couldn't do it again...oh well. It was very hard to get the kids up and going for school this morning! We got into the sleep in mode. And Mike left this morning for North Carolina for the week. New Year's seems like a long time ago, not just a week! I always really enjoy doing the bible readings on December 31st. It's like tying everything up. Finishing it all and getting ready for a new start. Likewise on January 1st. A fresh beginning. Amazing in a sad way, though, how although the new year is only 7 days old, already we've missed doing the readings once. Zach is a much better reader this year, and it's so much fun doing readings with him. I keep thinking how most of the things we read in Genesis is all new to him - well, obviously not the basic Bible stories, like Noah, etc., but tonight we were reading Genesis 14, about the battle of the kings. There is so much there! He was reading all of the king's names - Chedorlaomer, Shemeber, etc. I think this chapter would be a great study - how it pertains to the future. Any good reference material for this one??
I was going to put up my newest picture of my kids, but realized that I haven't downloaded them off of my camera yet! Don't mind the grumpiness of Zach and Jamin! Obviously this one is from October...my problem is that my computer has no space left on it, and every time I download new pictures I have to take others off and put them on my external hard drive. Time for a new computer!
| Real quick one before I go pick up Jamin to go to the orthodontist (and hopefully not spend any more money...). We had a public lecture last night, and had it downtown at an old Odeon theatre that has been turned into a university campus building. It looked so awesome - lecture rooms, lounges, etc. Very weird to see that, if you remembered it as a theatre! Anyway, that wasn't the exciting part. The exciting part was that we had 20 visitors!!!! Isn't that amazing??? The topic was the "Rising European Superpower" or something like that. JB did it, and he had great info, great powerpoint presentation, and it was awesome! I wonder if it's the title, or the location that draws out more people? I think that people are hesitant to come to a church to hear a topic, and a university lecture hall is much "safer" feeling. There is another class next week at the same place, but with a less of a "media" topic - more on how to read/study the bible (I can't remember the actual topic). It will be interesting to see what the visitor turnout is for that one. Unfortunately (but not really), we'll be in Myrtle Beach and will miss it! On another topic, it's getting REALLY cold here, and we've been without a furnace! BRRR. We just found out that the people are coming today to put the new one in. Good! Of course, it will feel nice, but it's a lot of money!!! Yuck. I guess it's one thing that we can't make it through the winter without! Well, got to go take Jamin to the orthodontist - or as Jamin calls him "the orthoDENTIST." | | |
| ...and still nothing new! Actually, there must be some pictures I can add to this! We had a birthday dinner for Sash tonight. She's 15 tomorrow! WOW! Time sure flies! Last week was the week of soccer tournaments. I went to Jonah's on Tuesday and Jamin's on Friday. I must say that the boys are enjoying the physical activity and sports at public school! Especially Jamin! Zach seems to be getting along fine, too. It's amazing how kids can adjust. Of course, there are pros and cons to having them in public school. Our family life is much better now - I guess that part of it is just ME not being so busy! I also really enjoy walking them to school and then walking them home. It's a good way for me to get some exercise, too, although it's not nearly enough!! I've also been listening to Bible classes on my ipod while walking - talk about multi-tasking! I miss them having the morning devotion and Bible study, though. We are trying to get more of that in here, by actually making it out to Bible class and lecture, as well as doing a Bible marking night once a week. Here are a few pictures! OK, I guess not - the upload feature is temporarily disabled...oops. Maybe next time!! | | |
| Well, I thought my hiatus was over, but I haven't really been on here very often. I thought once the kids got back to school life would slow down, but it hasn't! I guess life is just busy! Mike has been gone for a lot of September, and many ecclesial activities starting up again....Sunday School breakfast, corn roast, CYCs start this Friday...my brain is on apples and pumpkins, thanksgiving...Bro. Brian Luke is giving the Thanksgiving Gathering in Copetown this year! Yeah! Hmmm...not too much to say! Maybe it's time to hibernate... | | |
| Well, it's September, and it seems like slowly people are trickling back to Xanga. I hope everyone had a healthy, happy summer! We were really busy, and enjoyed two bible camps. We went to the new Manitoulin Bible camp, and to the California Kid's camp as well. Both were great - not really relaxing, but fun, nevertheless! Mike is on the new camp committee, and was busy for most of the week. California was fun, but challenging - we were counselling 5 16 year old boys. After the camp, we went to Havasu with Greg and Michelle, Dan & Ashley and all of our kids. Lots of noise and fun - boating, jet-skiing, wake boarding, swimming, etc. Nice and relaxing. Of course, now it's back to reality! We are doing something different this year. We put our kids back into public school. GASP! It was a prayerful decision, done with the conviction that if anything happened we would pull them out. Anyway, it's made things way less hectic for me. I'm still at CHC, but only for Thursday mornings. We're hoping to have more family time. Last year I was not able to spend enough time with my own kids, and we weren't as active in the ecclesial activities as we should have been. We'll see how it goes.
Here are my four!
Sunset on Lake Martin, Manitoulin Island...always a highlight of camp!
Our kid's camp group, minus Jason...
This is a cool spider outside my front window!
